In a shocking case that highlights the grave issue of online child exploitation, a 27-year-old man has been charged with 596 offences related to the abuse of 459 children across Australia and 15 other nations. Queensland authorities have revealed that the accused, who has been in custody since February, allegedly targeted vulnerable minors through social media and gaming platforms, amassing a vast collection of disturbing material on his electronic devices.
Extensive Collection of Abusive Material
According to Queensland Police, the investigation unveiled more than 23,000 images and videos associated with child abuse, necessitating an extensive effort to identify the victims involved. Currently, 360 victims have been identified, with the majority—over 200—residing in Australia, while others are located primarily in English-speaking countries.
The victims predominantly consist of boys aged between seven and 15 years. Authorities are collaborating with international partners to further identify victims and provide necessary support, as Clark stressed the urgency of addressing the growing trend of child grooming and exploitation online.

The perpetrator’s methods were particularly insidious; he is alleged to have targeted children from 2018 to 2025, creating multiple online identities and posing as both men and women to manipulate his victims. By meticulously recording his interactions, he employed grooming techniques and coercion, convincing minors to send explicit images, which he systematically organised into folders on his devices.
The specific charges brought against him include 244 counts of producing child abuse material via a carriage service, 163 counts of using a carriage service to procure minors under 16, and 87 counts of engaging in sexual activities with a child through a carriage service. The man is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
