In a significant legal development, Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, the youngest son of the late Zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe, has been ordered to leave South Africa after being fined and convicted of immigration and firearms-related offences. The ruling comes in the wake of a disturbing incident at the Mugabe residence in Johannesburg, where an employee sustained serious injuries. This latest turn of events adds to the already complex legacy of the Mugabe family, marked by both privilege and controversy.

Legal Proceedings and Charges

The Johannesburg magistrate’s court has dealt swiftly with charges against Mugabe, 28, and his cousin, Tobias Mugabe Matonhodze, 33. Their legal troubles stemmed from a shooting incident on 19 February, during which an employee, Sipho Mahlangu, was shot in the back. Initially charged with attempted murder, Matonhodze admitted guilt to multiple offences, including firearms violations and immigration breaches, resulting in a three-year prison sentence.
