Toronto’s Exhibition Place will play host to six exciting matches, including Canada’s opening game on June 12. Consequently, Canada Post has identified postal codes M6K, M6J, and M5V as areas likely to experience delays or interruptions in mail delivery. The postal service reassured customers that any undelivered mail would be securely held at their depot and prioritised for delivery on the next business day.
In addition to the potential delays, several post offices in Toronto may also face disruptions on match days. Locations such as 390 Queens Quay W., 761 King St. W., 119 Ossington Ave., and 1093 Queen St. W. could see minor processing and delivery delays, especially surrounding matches scheduled for June 12, June 17, June 20, June 23, June 26, and July 2.
To ensure smooth operations during the event, Canada Post will temporarily remove street letter boxes within the vicinity of match venues until July 22. Customers are advised to use the post office at 1093 Queen St. W. for mailing their items during the tournament.
Vancouver’s Preparations for World Cup Matches
In Vancouver, where BC Place will host seven matches, Canada Post is preparing for a different level of disruption. The postal service plans to clear and seal mailboxes close to the stadium and fan festival locations on match days, including weekends. These mailboxes will reopen the following business day for customers to deposit their mail.
Canada Post has stated that customers with postal codes starting with V6A, V6B, and V6Z should experience no interruptions in their mail delivery. Furthermore, business customers located near the event areas will not face any service disruptions. The post offices at 238 Robson St., 1173 – 88 West Pender St., and 495 West Georgia St. will continue their normal operations throughout the tournament. The matches in Vancouver are scheduled for June 13, June 18, June 21, June 24, June 26, July 2, and July 7.
