Service Interruptions in Toronto
Toronto Stadium, located at Exhibition Place, is set to host six matches, including Canada’s inaugural game on Friday. The fan festivals will be held at Fort York and the Bentway, creating a vibrant atmosphere for soccer enthusiasts. However, Canada Post has cautioned residents in the M6K, M6J, and M5V postal code areas to anticipate delays or interruptions in their mail delivery during this period.
“Any mail not delivered will be held securely at the Canada Post depot and prioritised for delivery the next business day,” the service confirmed. Specific post offices in the vicinity—namely, those at 390 Queens Quay W., 761 King St. W., 119 Ossington Ave., and 1093 Queen St. W.—may also face temporary delays on match days. Notably, Canada Post will remove street letter boxes within the event boundaries until July 22, redirecting customers to the post office at 1093 Queen St. W. for mailing needs. On match days, there will be no pickups near the FIFA Fan Festival and Toronto Stadium.
The matches scheduled in Toronto will occur on June 12, June 17, June 20, June 23, June 26, and July 2.
Vancouver’s Unique Challenges
In contrast, Vancouver is preparing for seven matches at BC Place, with a similar caution from Canada Post. The postal service plans to clear and seal several mailboxes surrounding the fan festival and stadium on match days, including Saturdays and Sundays. These mailboxes will be re-accessible the following business day for residents wishing to send mail.
While Canada Post does not expect disruptions for customers in postal codes beginning with V6A, V6B, and V6Z, they have assured that commercial services near event locations will remain unaffected. Local post offices at 238 Robson St., 1173 – 88 West Pender St., and 495 West Georgia St. will continue operations as normal. Vancouver’s matches are scheduled for June 13, June 18, June 21, June 24, June 26, July 2, and July 7.
