Nakee Bullen, a tattoo artist from Minnesota, had almost lost all hope of finding her beloved pet after both cats escaped during a camping trip. The Disappearance
While travelling through Colorado on a camping trip, Bullen and her boyfriend stopped near Great Sand Dunes National Park. Their adventure turned into a nightmare when, one morning, Bullen awoke to find her cats missing. “I woke up at about 5:30 a.m., 6 o’clock in the morning and both of them were gone,” she recounted. Although one of her cats, Lewis, was located nearby, Fridge, a spirited three-year-old, was nowhere to be found.
Bullen’s frantic search was heart-wrenching; she scoured campsites within a seven-mile radius, calling out for Fridge and hoping for a miracle. Ultimately, she faced the agonising decision to end her search and return to Minnesota without her furry friend. “I felt like I left a little piece of me there,” she lamented. “I was just crying because she wasn’t here with me and all I wanted was my baby.”

Back in Minnesota, Bullen refused to give in to despair. She regularly checked updates from the Humane Society and scoured social media for any sign of Fridge. The emotional toll was significant, as Bullen recounted, “Every time I did it was the most heartbreaking thing; you’d see cats that look a lot like her but it wasn’t her.” Park rangers had informed her that the likelihood of finding Fridge was slim, yet she continued to hold onto hope.
Miraculously, after 40 long days, someone spotted Fridge and brought her to the local Humane Society. Bullen received the long-awaited phone call that would change everything.

Bullen was quick to respond, making a 16-hour drive back to Colorado, fuelled by excitement and anticipation. “She’s a fighter. She’s a certified baddie now,” she laughed when recounting the reunion.
