Critical animal welfare issues have emerged at the Zoological Wildlife Foundation (ZWF) in Miami, owned by former drug trafficker Mario Tabraue, prominently featured in the Netflix documentary *Tiger King*. Federal wildlife inspectors uncovered multiple infractions during a March inspection, highlighting serious concerns about the treatment and living conditions of the animals at this controversial roadside zoo.

Disturbing Findings from Federal Inspections

During a thorough inspection on 30 March, inspectors from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) identified alarming violations under the Animal Welfare Act. Among the most troubling incidents were the severe injuries to an endangered clouded leopard, named Petra, who suffered the amputation of her left leg following a botched breeding attempt. Additionally, a female capybara was found dead after being housed with a male for an extended period, with indications that the male may have killed her during mating attempts.

Danisha Bullock, a veterinary medical officer with the USDA, reported that the clouded leopards were not housed in compatible environments
