An American footwear label has removed a social media advert after users said it evoked Ku Klux Klan imagery, prompting Converse to apologise and confirm that the post had been taken down.
The company said it recognised “that we got this wrong” and said the image had caused understandable distress. In a statement first issued on Friday, Converse said the photograph had been removed from its social media channels and that it was working to have it removed from other places.
“This should not have happened and we will do better,” the brand said. It
