In a shocking turn of events, US singer D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The teen’s remains were discovered in his Tesla last month, prompting a grand jury investigation that has now escalated into serious criminal charges. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the 21-year-old artist is currently being held without bail, with the case set to be presented to the District Attorney’s office shortly.

A Tragic Discovery

The tragic story began to unfold on 8 September when investigators found the decomposed remains of Celeste Rivas Hernandez in a Hollywood tow yard. Reports of a foul odour emanating from a vehicle led authorities to the grisly discovery in the boot of a Tesla registered to D4vd’s address in Texas. The medical examiner described the condition of the body as “severely decomposed,” and preliminary assessments suggested that the girl may have been dead for several weeks prior to the recovery of her remains.

Rivas Hernandez, who had been reported missing by her family in April 2024, was known to have a troubled home life, having previously run away from her residence in Lake Elsinore. As a first-generation daughter of Salvadoran immigrants, she was remembered by neighbours as a familiar face in the community, often seen visiting local shops for candy and drinks.
