In a harrowing case of prolonged exploitation, Amanda Wixon, a mother of ten, has been found guilty of holding a young woman with learning difficulties captive in her home for more than 25 years. The victim, whose identity remains protected, was forced to work as a domestic servant and subjected to regular physical abuse from 1995 until her eventual rescue in 2021.

The disturbing details of this case came to light after the victim managed to escape Wixon’s residence and contact the authorities, leading to a thorough investigation. According to court documents, the victim, who was in her early 20s when the ordeal began, was lured to Wixon’s home under the pretence of assistance and then cruelly trapped, with no means of escape.

“This was a truly horrific case of modern slavery and abuse of the most vulnerable,” stated the presiding judge. “The victim endured unimaginable suffering at the hands of her captor, who exploited her for decades with complete disregard for her wellbeing.”

Wixon, now 62 years old, subjected the victim to a life of servitude, forcing her to perform arduous household chores and manual labour without respite. The young woman was also regularly beaten, with Wixon using physical violence as a means of control and punishment.

“The victim’s bravery in coming forward and recounting her harrowing experience is commendable,” said a spokesperson for the local police force. “We are committed to ensuring that justice is served and that victims of such abhorrent crimes receive the support and protection they deserve.”

The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many expressing outrage and disbelief at the level of cruelty inflicted upon the vulnerable victim. Advocacy groups have called for a thorough review of the systems in place to prevent such cases of prolonged abuse and exploitation.

“This case highlights the urgent need for stronger safeguards and more effective interventions to protect the most vulnerable members of our society,” said the director of a local charity that supports victims of human trafficking and modern slavery.

Wixon is currently awaiting sentencing, facing a lengthy prison term for her heinous crimes. The victim, now in her late 40s, is receiving specialist care and support as she begins the process of rebuilding her life after decades of captivity and abuse.
