Meanwhile, in the Yatsushiro area, a chimney collapse at a Nippon Paper Industries factory resulted in further casualties, with eight fatalities reported and one person still missing.
Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has pledged that the central government will take an active role in coordinating relief efforts, particularly in restoring vital services such as electricity, gas, and water. “The needs on the ground are constantly changing. To put to rest the people’s feelings of uncertainty, we will do all that needs to be done,” she affirmed.
