In a dramatic escalation of violence, militants and separatist groups launched a series of coordinated assaults across Mali on Saturday, targeting key locations in the capital, Bamako, as well as in several other cities. The al-Qaida-affiliated group Jama’a Nusrat ul-Islam wa al-Muslimin (JNIM) has claimed responsibility for these attacks, marking one of the most significant outbreaks of violence in the country in recent years.
