Neighbour’s Account
Ellie, a 20‑year‑old resident who declined to give her surname, described rushing up and down the street shouting to raise the alarm as soon as she saw smoke. She said she could not approach the front of the building because the heat was overwhelming.
“The entire house was scorching,” she said. “I couldn’t get near the front of the house, it was that hot.”
Ellie also recounted how she comforted a distraught woman who had leapt from an upstairs window.
She held the hand of the crying woman until paramedics arrived, staying with her throughout the ordeal. Ellie added that she believed a girl was among the casualties, though she could not confirm identities at the time.
