In a shocking revelation, a mother of ten has been found guilty of imprisoning a woman for over two decades in her suburban home in Tewkesbury. The victim, who was a friend’s daughter, was forced to endure horrific conditions and care for her captor’s children during her 25-year ordeal.

Amanda Wixon, 56, took in the victim in 1997 and held her captive until March 2021, when Wixon’s son finally alerted the authorities. The woman was not allowed to leave the house during this entire period, as Wixon kept the doors and windows locked, trapping her inside.

The victim was forced to clean the house and care for Wixon’s children, with no means of escape. Wixon was found guilty of six charges, including compulsory labour, false imprisonment, and assault, by a jury at Gloucester Crown Court.

This disturbing case came to light when Wixon’s son, who had been unaware of the situation, contacted the police in 2021, leading to the victim’s rescue and Wixon’s arrest. The court heard harrowing details of the woman’s captivity, with the judge describing the case as “one of the most horrific” they had ever encountered.

The sentencing for Wixon is yet to be determined, but she now faces a lengthy prison sentence for her heinous crimes. This case has shocked the local community and raised concerns about the need for greater vigilance in detecting and preventing such abuses of power.

The Update Desk will continue to follow this story and provide updates as they become available. It is a stark reminder of the importance of being alert to the welfare of those around us and the need for strong legal measures to protect the vulnerable from such exploitation.
