In a significant response to increasing antisemitic violence, Prime Minister Keir Starmer has vowed to take decisive action against individuals glorifying the murder of Jews. This promise comes in the wake of a brutal attack in Golders Green, where two Jewish men were stabbed, prompting the UK’s Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC) to elevate the national terror threat level to “severe,” indicating that a terrorist attack is highly likely.

Starmer’s visit to Golders Green on Thursday was marked by heightened tensions. He met with community leaders and emergency services following the attack, which left victims Shilome Rand, 34, and Moshe Shine, 76, hospitalised but in stable condition. The Prime Minister recognised the palpable fear within the Jewish community, exacerbated by a series of recent antisemitic incidents linked to the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict.
“Antisemitism is an ancient hatred that has resurfaced with alarming frequency,” Starmer stated emphatically. He stressed the importance of acknowledging the pain experienced by Jewish individuals and the need for collective action
