Khloé Kardashian has candidly reflected on her first and only trip to the iconic Coachella music festival, revealing that she believed she was unintentionally “drugged” during the event. The reality star shared her unsettling experience on the latest episode of her podcast, “Khloé in Wonder Land,” shedding light on a moment that left her feeling frightened and confused.
A Harrowing Festival Experience
Kardashian, now 41, attended the renowned Southern California festival in 2015, where big names like AC/DC, Jack White, and Drake took to the stage. However, her recollection of the event is far from glamorous. During the podcast, she recalled, “It wasn’t the best experience. I got drugged without me knowing, but I think everyone knew.”
Clarifying her statement, she expressed, “I don’t think anyone drugged me. I just think I was the dumb one and didn’t realise that everyone was on drugs.” She described consuming a drink that made her feel “really crazy,” leading to a distressing situation where she locked herself in a bathroom for hours, overwhelmed by fear and uncertainty.
“I was in my head. I was so scared,” she added, highlighting the emotional toll the experience took on her. “No one wants to feel like that and not know why they’re feeling that way.”
A Coachella Unlike Any Other
Despite the fear that overshadowed her 2015 visit, Khloé’s sisters—Kourtney, Kim, Kendall, and Kylie—are regular attendees at Coachella, often reveling in the festival’s vibrant atmosphere. This year, Kourtney hosted a lavish wellness retreat through her lifestyle brand, Poosh, though it was briefly interrupted by a sandstorm. Meanwhile, Kendall’s 818 Tequila brand held an exclusive VIP event, Kim was spotted enjoying Justin Bieber’s performance alongside her boyfriend Lewis Hamilton, and Kylie made appearances throughout both weekends of the festival.
Reflecting on her absence, Khloé expressed a sense of FOMO (fear of missing out) this year, something she admitted was new for her. “It’s probably the first year ever I’ve had FOMO from Coachella, because I genuinely couldn’t care less,” she confessed to her mother, Kris Jenner, during a previous podcast. “But I’ve never had any Coachella where all [my] sisters are there. I was the only one not there.”
Family Matters
Although Khloé considered attending this year’s festival, she ultimately could not make it, as it coincided with her daughter True’s birthday weekend. Khloé shares True, who is now eight, with her ex-partner, NBA player Tristan Thompson. The couple also has a three-year-old son named Tatum. Khloé’s past relationship with former NBA player Lamar Odom, from 2009 to 2016, also resurfaces in her narrative, particularly around the time he suffered a near-fatal overdose in 2015. Their divorce, initially filed in 2013, was put on hold during Odom’s recovery.
Why it Matters
Khloé Kardashian’s experience serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of nightlife and the pressures that come with celebrity culture. While many attend festivals for joy and connection, her story underscores the importance of awareness and safety in social settings. As music festivals continue to attract thousands, it is crucial for attendees to look out for one another and ensure that such unsettling experiences do not overshadow the celebratory spirit of these events.
