This meeting is part of ongoing efforts to reinvigorate the stalled ceasefire negotiations concerning Gaza, which have reached an impasse following the recent rejection of a proposed 15-point peace plan by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Kushner’s discussions with Hamas took place in a context of increasing urgency, particularly given the suffering of approximately 2 million residents in Gaza, who have endured more than ten months of conflict since the last major military operations ceased.
