The operation, executed on July 8, involved a coordinated effort between the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), local police from Montreal and Gatineau, and the province’s Forensic Science and Legal Medicine Laboratory.
A Sophisticated Operation
Authorities reported that the operation led to the confiscation of over 250 items utilised in the creation of fake documents. Among the seized materials were passport covers, laminators, printers, and templates for bank cards. In addition, three vehicles linked to the operation were also taken by the police.
Captain Marie-Hélène Poulin, who leads the SQ’s Economic Crimes and Cybercrime Investigation unit, detailed the extensive range of counterfeit documents produced at this facility. These included complete passports for multiple countries such as Canada, France, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Italy. The lab was also capable of producing driver’s licences for various provinces, including Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, as well as Florida. Other forged documents included firearms acquisition permits and Quebec health insurance cards.

During the operation, one individual was arrested and subsequently released on bail. This person is facing multiple charges, including forgery, possession or trafficking of counterfeit documents, and laundering of proceeds from criminal activities.
