Another motorist, Miles Luckett, recounted a moment of panic as he navigated onto the M1, where a red X sign was displayed due to a broken-down vehicle. “I made a split-second judgment call that an immediate sharp lane change posed a safety risk,” he explained. However, he accepted the mandatory nature of the sign and received a £72 fine, alongside three penalty points.
