In an appearance on Fox, he expressed his commitment to Trump’s agenda, declaring, “Day one, I will be laser-focused on passing President Trump’s ‘America first’ [agenda]. And it starts with the Save America Act. We’ll nuke the filibuster. And I will be a vocal vote and a supporter to make this happen.”

Norman’s announcement comes in the wake of Trump’s public support for Darline Graham, who was appointed to fill her brother’s Senate seat on an interim basis just days after his death on 11 July. Trump has actively encouraged her to enter the race, declaring on Truth Social, “Darline, who comes from an absolutely incredible family, has been a WINNER all of her life… RUN, DARLINE, RUN!”
The GOP primary is scheduled for 11 August, and should a runoff be necessary, it will take place on 25 August. The victor will face off against Democratic challenger Annie Andrews in the November midterms.

Although Norman sought Trump’s endorsement before launching his campaign, he expressed respect for Trump’s decision to back Graham. “I wanted [Trump’s] blessing to run and get his support. He decided to go with Darline, who’s a nice person, and I respect that,” he told CNN. “But it doesn’t deter my plans. I’m in this to win.”
