Opposition Calls for Accountability
The fallout from Cho’s resignation has not gone unnoticed by the opposition. Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles characterised Cho’s resignation as an incomplete resolution, emphasising that the public deserves clarity on how such substantial hotel charges were incurred. “This minister was riding high, living the suite life on the taxpayer dime,” she declared, questioning the Premier’s confidence in other ministers who have accrued similar expenses.
Interim Liberal Leader John Fraser echoed these sentiments, suggesting that Cho’s resignation is merely “the tip of the iceberg” and calling for a comprehensive release of all receipts related to hotel claims. “There are more ministers and more members, and there are more scandals,” he asserted.
