Zack Polanski, leader of the Green Party in England and Wales, has voiced ongoing concerns regarding the police’s response to the recent attack in Golders Green, where two Jewish men were stabbed. Despite previously apologising for a hasty social media post that accused officers of excessive force, Polanski insists that public service professionals must be accountable for their actions.

Polanski’s Controversial Social Media Post

The controversy erupted after Polanski shared a tweet on X, alleging that police officers had “repeatedly and violently kicked a mentally ill man in the head” while he was incapacitated by a Taser. Following backlash, including criticism from Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley, Polanski retracted his statement, emphasising that social media wasn’t the right platform for such serious concerns.

“I was very concerned by what I saw and I remain concerned,” Polanski reiterated during an interview on BBC’s Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg. His insistence on scrutiny of police actions has drawn ire from government officials, with Communities Secretary Steve Reed labelling Polanski’s continued questioning of the police as “shameful.”
