In a daring act of civil disobedience, protesters managed to breach the security of HMP Wormwood Scrubs, a Category B prison in West London, in an effort to support a Palestine Action member currently on a hunger strike.

The incident unfolded on Saturday evening, as the group of demonstrators gained access to the prison grounds, refusing to leave. Reports indicate that the protesters then obstructed prison staff from entering or exiting the facility and even threatened the officers who arrived at the scene.

“All those involved are currently detained and will be arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass,” a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police stated. The authorities have assured that they will provide updates on the number of arrests once all the individuals have been taken into custody.

HMP Wormwood Scrubs, often referred to as “The Scrubs,” is a medium-security prison located in the White City area of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. Category B prisons, like Wormwood Scrubs, are designed to be secure and closed facilities, but they are a step below the maximum-security Category A prisons.

The motivations behind the protesters’ actions appear to be in support of a Palestine Action member who is currently on a hunger strike within the prison walls. Palestine Action is a group that advocates for the rights of the Palestinian people and has been known to engage in direct action tactics to further their cause.

This incident highlights the growing tensions surrounding the issue of Palestine and the willingness of some activists to take drastic measures to draw attention to their concerns. The authorities have responded swiftly, detaining all those involved, and the situation remains under close scrutiny as the investigation continues.
