Rays Jump to an Early Lead
The Rays wasted no time in asserting their dominance, scoring first with an RBI single from Jonny DeLuca in the opening inning. Cedric Mullins then followed up with a two-run single in the third, propelling Tampa Bay to an early 3-0 advantage. The visitors continued to pile on the pressure, with Walls scoring in the sixth on a wild pitch that struck home plate umpire Chris Segal, and Ryan Vilade extending the lead to 5-0 with a home run in the seventh inning.
The Rays, boasting a record of 28-13, appeared to be in complete control as they showcased their offensive prowess.
