Lone Friis, who manages the C-Further paediatric oncology programme at LifeArc, pointed out that while 4,000 new cases of childhood cancer are diagnosed annually in the UK, only eight new medications targeting these patients have been developed over the past two decades. “We need to do better,” Friis insisted, underscoring the urgent need for more focused research and development in this area.
