Authorities have launched a renewed investigation into John Chukwunonso Iwuh, a former NHS psychiatric nurse convicted of rape, after new reports emerged indicating he may have targeted additional victims. The Metropolitan Police have called upon anyone who may have been affected by Iwuh’s actions to come forward, as concerns mount over his past behaviour and the implications for public safety.

Background of the Case

John Chukwunonso Iwuh, 54, from South Norwood, Croydon, was sentenced to 16 years in prison in July 2025 after being found guilty of raping a woman he met through the dating app Hinge. The incident occurred in June 2022 when Iwuh lured his victim to his home. During the trial, it was revealed that he had exploited his position as a psychiatric nurse to gain the trust of this woman before committing the assault. In addition to the rape charge, he was also convicted of voyeurism.

His conviction came after police discovered nearly 11,000 contacts on his mobile phone, with approximately 60 per cent stored under women’s names alongside the names of dating applications. This alarming discovery led the Metropolitan Police to suspect that there may be many more victims who have yet to come forward.

New Allegations and Ongoing Investigations

Following Iwuh’s conviction, the Metropolitan Police reported that they have received additional allegations against him. These reports are currently under evaluation, and the force is keen to hear from any individuals who may have experienced similar victimisation at the hands of Iwuh. A spokesperson
