Royal Mail has launched an impressive collection of stamps celebrating the legacy of Britain’s military aviation, featuring some of the most iconic jet aircraft in history. This new set includes eight main stamps showcasing jets ranging from the pioneering Gloster Meteor F1, the Royal Air Force’s first jet fighter, to the contemporary Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II.
A Tribute to Aviation History
The collection highlights a selection of eight notable aircraft that have played significant roles in various conflicts, including World War II, the Falklands War, the Gulf War, and missions in Afghanistan and Iraq. Alongside the Gloster Meteor and the F-35B, the stamps feature the Avro Vulcan B2, the Gloster Javelin FAW9, the Hawker Siddeley Hawk T1, the Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer S2B, the De Havilland Vampire FB5, and the Panavia Tornado GR4.

Marking Significant Anniversaries
The release of these stamps coincides with several notable anniversaries in 2026. It marks 50 years since the Hawker Siddeley Hawk was introduced into service, 70 years for both the Gloster Javelin and the Avro Vulcan, and 80 years for the De Havilland Vampire.
In addition to the main set, a special miniature sheet features four stamps commemorating the 30th anniversary of Sir Frank Whittle’s passing. Whittle is celebrated for his groundbreaking work in jet engine technology, which transformed aviation globally.

Ian Whittle, Sir Frank Whittle’s son, expressed his pride in Royal Mail’s tribute, stating, “I am delighted that Royal Mail is celebrating this extraordinary legacy with a set of stamps. It is a fitting tribute not only to my father’s pioneering achievements but also to the generations of engineers, designers, and aviators who helped shape Britain’s world-leading contribution to aviation.”
The stamps will be available for purchase starting July 30, with a complete presentation pack of all twelve stamps retailing at £22.50.
