In a groundbreaking move, the iconic Alexandra Palace in north London is set to open a new rooftop attraction that will offer visitors a unique and breathtaking perspective of the city’s skyline. Dubbed the “Summit,” the experience is poised to become the UK’s highest roof walk, reaching an impressive height of 130 metres (426 feet) above sea level.
Scheduled to launch on 14 February 2026, the Summit will allow visitors to embark on a guided route that takes them across the roof of the historic Alexandra Palace. The attraction, developed by the renowned company Wire & Sky, promises panoramic views stretching up to 25 miles across the capital, showcasing landmarks such as St Paul’s Cathedral, The Shard, and Canary Wharf, as well as several major stadiums.
“This attraction offers a completely new way to experience the building and the city’s skyline,” said Andy Broad, a representative from Wire & Sky. “We’ve worked closely with Alexandra Palace to seamlessly integrate the route into the historic site.”
Visitors will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of options, including daytime, sunset, and evening climbs, as well as group, private, and educational packages tailored for schools and youth groups. The purpose-built route will lead visitors to the iconic Angel of Plenty statue before opening up to a 360-degree view of the sprawling metropolis.
Lucy Fenner, from Alexandra Palace, expressed her excitement about the new attraction, stating, “The Summit will provide a completely new perspective on the Palace and form part of the site’s wider offering to visitors.”
The rooftop experience is set to join the ranks of other high-altitude attractions developed by Wire & Sky, including the Dare Skywalk at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Cutty Sark rig climb, and the Anfield Abseil in Liverpool. However, the Alexandra Palace route will claim the title of the UK’s highest roof walk, thanks to its elevated hilltop location.
With the promise of stunning views, a unique vantage point, and a range of experiential options, the Summit at Alexandra Palace is poised to become a must-visit destination for both Londoners and tourists alike, offering a truly exceptional way to experience the city’s iconic skyline.
