Authorities in Monaco have launched a manhunt for a Ukrainian woman alleged to be behind a parcel bomb explosion that left three individuals, including a prominent real estate developer, seriously injured. Anastasiia Berezovska, 39, is at the centre of this investigation, with police stating she disguised herself as a man during the incident.
Details of the Attack
The explosion occurred shortly before 21:00 local time on Monday evening, as the victims were entering their residential building. Investigators have identified the main target as Vadym Yermolaiev, a 58-year-old businessman who has been living in Monaco after renouncing his Ukrainian citizenship in 2019. He is reported to have significant interests in the wine and alcohol industry in Crimea and has been under sanctions imposed by Ukraine since 2023.
The package, which was left in the entrance hall, detonated shortly after its placement, resulting in severe injuries to Yermolaiev, his partner, and their 13-year-old son. Local reports indicate that the family was targeted due to Yermolaiev’s high-profile status and substantial wealth, estimated by Forbes to be around $230 million (£173.8 million).
Manhunt and International Cooperation
In response to the attack, Monaco’s deputy prosecutor, Morgan Raymond, revealed that an Interpol Red Notice has been issued for Berezovska, who is wanted for attempted murder, placing an explosive device in a public area, and conspiracy. Authorities believe she spent time observing the family’s residence prior to the bombing. Following the explosion, she allegedly fled the scene on foot, later renting a vehicle and driving to Germany.
Raymond confirmed that investigators are also exploring the possibility of accomplices, as the search for Berezovska intensifies. CCTV footage shows her wearing a dark bucket hat, raising questions about her disguise. Interpol has released images of her, including a distinctive tattoo on her right arm that may depict a snake.

Monaco’s public prosecutor, Stephane Thibault, commended international law enforcement agencies for their swift cooperation, which facilitated the identification of the suspect. In Germany, special forces have already searched a rented apartment linked to Berezovska in the Main-Taunus district, recovering evidence that will be transferred to Monegasque authorities.

Yermolaiev and his partner were initially in critical condition but have shown signs of improvement; however, the status of Yermolaiev’s partner remains precarious.
