An Australian father and his two young children have been found dead in a bungalow in Bali’s Kuta district, with police suspecting the father took his own life after killing his offspring. The 57-year-old man and his children, aged seven and four, were discovered on Sunday morning following an emergency call from the children’s mother, who had been unable to contact her family.
The incident began when 51-year-old Nur Khamid received a distressing call at approximately 8:30 am from a woman claiming to be the victim’s wife. She was reportedly in Jakarta and urgently needed someone to check on her husband and children. Mr Khamid proceeded to the bungalow and initially observed no signs of life from within. He then consulted the property owner before summoning the local neighbourhood head, Kelian Lingkungan. Together, they forced entry after unsuccessful attempts to gain access, discovering the three victims in the residence.
Crime Scene Investigation Underway
Police officers arrived promptly to secure the location and conduct a thorough examination. A specialized police identification team assisted in processing the crime scene, with preliminary assessments indicating the two younger victims succumbed to violent injuries. Authorities believe the 57-year-old father died by hanging. The remains have been transported to Prof Dr IGNG Ngoerah Central General Hospital for comprehensive autopsies. Detective senior commissioner Leonardo D Simatupang confirmed that investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity and interviewing witnesses, including the children’s mother, to establish the precise sequence of events.
