A horrific incident unfolded in Shreveport, Louisiana, early on Sunday morning, where a father took the lives of seven of his children and a child unrelated to him in what authorities have described as a “domestic disturbance.” The tragedy has left the local community in deep mourning and raised serious concerns about the prevalence of gun violence in the United States.

Details of the Incident

The shooting occurred around 5:00 AM local time (10:00 GMT), with reports indicating that the suspect, identified as Shamar Elkins, opened fire on ten individuals before fleeing the scene in a stolen vehicle. According to Shreveport Police Department spokesperson Chris Bordelon, the children involved were aged between one and 14 years old. The gunman was subsequently pursued by police and was killed during the chase.

In addition to the deceased children, two adult women, including the children’s mother, are currently in critical condition following the assault
