On Saturday evening, Trump announced on Truth Social that he was reviewing Iran’s recent offer but expressed scepticism, stating, “I can’t imagine that it would be acceptable.” This remark follows his blunt dismissal of the proposal just a day earlier, where he conveyed his dissatisfaction with the terms communicated through Pakistani intermediaries.

During a brief interaction with reporters at Palm Beach, Florida, Trump clarified that while he was briefed on the “concept of the deal,” he had yet to see its specifics. “They’re going to give me the exact wording now,” he mentioned, indicating the ongoing uncertainty that characterises the negotiations.

Iran’s Position: Diplomacy or Conflict?

In response to the stalemate, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi emphasised that the onus is now on the United States to choose between diplomatic engagement and a continuation of hostilities. “The ball is now in the United States’ court to choose between diplomacy or continuing a confrontational approach,” he stated during a meeting with foreign diplomats in Tehran.
