The prevailing east to north-easterly winds have shifted the highest temperatures westward, but as these winds ease, the heat is anticipated to spread more uniformly across the UK. Forecasts indicate that Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northern England are also likely to experience heatwave conditions again soon.

Brief Cool Down Expected

This weekend may bring a temporary respite from the sweltering heat, with forecasts suggesting a general decline in maximum temperatures across the UK. The mercury is expected to reach between 22°C in Scotland and Northern Ireland and a still warm 28°C in southern England. This slight cooling is attributed to a northerly wind as the high-pressure system adjusts its position. However, this dip in temperature is expected to be short-lived, as another high-pressure front is forecast to build over the UK next week, likely leading to a resurgence of warmer conditions with continued sunshine.
