Experts suggest that the first real signs of drought recovery may not be evident until late autumn or winter, when the typical increase in rainfall occurs. Over centuries, human intervention has altered natural landscapes to expedite water drainage, leading to rapid runoff that increases the likelihood of flooding.

Entwistle believes this situation serves as a critical wake-up call, urging a fundamental reevaluation of our relationship with water management. As climate extremes become more frequent, adapting our approach to water usage and conservation is essential.
