Reflecting on the mix-up, Si Woo recounted his surprise at the toll charges he encountered: “I follow the instructions and somehow make a turn; there’s a toll gate, like $9 I had to pay to go through. I’m like, ‘Why is it so expensive?’” His confusion only deepened as he approached the border crossing, realising too late that he had entered Canada without his passport.

Upon entering the tunnel that leads from Detroit to Windsor, Si Woo had a moment of realisation: “Oh, this is Canada,” he recalled. Feeling both anxious and a bit out of his depth, he struggled to communicate with the border agents, leading them to perceive him as somewhat unusual. “I was so freaking out; I couldn’t speak English very much,” he admitted.
Michael Kim later shared on social media that Si Woo faced an intense 90-minute interrogation by eight border patrol officers, who conducted thorough checks of his vehicle for any illegal items. Si Woo, driving a courtesy car from the tournament, attempted to ease the situation by sharing his golfing ambitions. When one officer inquired if he planned to win the upcoming tournament, he quipped, “If you let me through.”
