On St Denys Road, Sophie Martin found herself clearing away remnants of a violent night that saw rioters vandalise her family’s vehicles while her children slept upstairs. “It was really scary,” she recounted, describing how a brick shattered the windows of their cars, leaving shards of glass strewn across the seats. This incident was part of a larger eruption of unrest that erupted in the wake of Nowak’s tragic death, which occurred last December when he was fatally stabbed by Vickrum Digwa.
