The devastation, characterised by heavy rainfall, hail, and ferocious winds, particularly affected five districts, upending trees, billboards, and disrupting vital mobile networks, complicating rescue efforts.

Initial reports from state authorities indicated that 89 fatalities had been linked to the storm’s ferocity, but this figure was later updated to 111 as assessments continued. Many of the casualties occurred due to falling trees and the collapse of structures. Emergency teams have been mobilised across the affected areas, tasked with addressing the widespread damage to homes, agricultural land, and electrical infrastructure.
Narendra N. Srivastava, a senior state official, confirmed the extensive nature of the destruction, especially in rural districts where the damage has been most pronounced. The government has pledged a swift response, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath instructing local officials to expedite relief efforts and provide compensation for the victims.

Witnesses reported roofs being ripped off homes and the relentless sound of trees crashing down throughout the night.
Areas Hardest Hit
Bhadohi district bore the brunt of the storm, registering at least 16 deaths from various incidents. Local police confirmed multiple injuries, some of which were severe. A resident, Savitri Devi, recounted the harrowing experience of fleeing her collapsing home, which she narrowly escaped just in time.
In Fatehpur district, nine fatalities were recorded, including several women and children, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the storm’s devastation. Additional incidents in Budaun and Sonbhadra added to the toll, with reports of people tragically killed by falling trees or collapsing walls as they sought shelter.
