Jessie Adcock, the host committee lead for the event, emphasised that the fan festival aims to be the premier venue for viewing the matches in British Columbia. “Entry will be free, allowing everyone to soak in the world-class World Cup experience that can only be found at an official site,” she stated in an interview with Global News.
A New Home for Soccer Fans
The festival will take place at the PNE grounds in Hastings Park, a site that will undergo a significant transformation to accommodate the influx of fans. Adcock noted that the area, excluding Playland, will feature multiple large screens, a variety of food and drink vendors, and family-friendly activities to cater to all ages. “We’re turning the site from its current state into an animated environment, utilising parking lots, gardens, and buildings to create a lively festival atmosphere,” she explained.
A key highlight will be the Freedom Mobile Arch Amphitheatre, which is set to be ready in time for the festival. It will offer premium seating options for a unique viewing experience. Adcock mentioned, “This new space allows us to provide a range of premium experiences, including group hosting and reserved seating with food and drink options.” While ticket prices for these premium offerings have yet to be announced, the general access to the festival will remain free.
