Cupriavidus gilardii, while not frequently associated with severe health issues, has been linked to rare but serious infections. A study published in March 2026 detailed a case of septic shock following a patient contracting this bacterium during a medical procedure, drawing attention to the potential dangers posed by such contaminants in community water supplies.
