QuantumLoopAI, the creators of Emma, assert that the system is designed to recognise a variety of dialects and support 17 languages alongside English. A spokesperson clarified that Emma does not make clinical decisions and is programmed to transfer calls to human receptionists when she cannot assist adequately. “No caller is required to continue speaking with Emma, and anyone can ask to speak to a member of staff at any time,” they stated, emphasising that the goal is to improve access to services by eliminating phone queues.
