The runway at Australian Fashion Week lit up last night as L’Idee Woman showcased an impressive array of talent, featuring a lineup of models whose collective social media following dwarfs that of the entire Australian population. The highlight of the evening was none other than Taylor Hill, the former Victoria’s Secret Angel and social media sensation with over 22 million followers, who opened the show. She was joined by an equally dazzling cohort, including Australian beauty Shanina Shaik, high-fashion icon Gemma Ward, Sports Illustrated star Jessica Gomes, and Montana Cox, a notable alumna of Australia’s Next Top Model.
A Week of High Stakes and High Fashion
For Breeana Smith, co-founder of L’Idee Woman, the week leading up to the show was fraught with logistical challenges. “It was a highly volatile week of logistics to bring Taylor Hill to Australia,” she admitted. Despite the hurdles, Smith found the experience rewarding, especially during the dress rehearsal, which she described as “everything we dreamed it would be, poured out all over this beautiful venue.”
The casting process proved to be both costly and complex, yet the investment paid off handsomely. “High-profile models really help to establish your connection with your consumer,” Smith explained, noting how these renowned figures represent diverse networks and audiences. The show aimed not only to impress but also to resonate with a broad demographic, catering to “mothers, daughters, mothers of the bride, and even grandmothers of the bride,” Smith added.
Although plans to include New Zealand model Georgia Fowler, another former Victoria’s Secret Angel, were thwarted by logistical issues, Smith expressed her satisfaction with the team they managed to assemble. “We were extremely disappointed … but we were just so thrilled to see the result of the model casting come to life on the runway,” she remarked.
A Spectacle of Style
The L’Idee Woman show was a visual feast, showcasing the brand’s signature pleated metallic gowns and jewel-toned kaftans, as well as introducing newer styles such as iridescent sequins and chic satin dresses. The event unfolded at the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s stunning venue, perched over the glittering Sydney Harbour, which added to the night’s glamour. The atmosphere echoed that of Studio 54, perfectly complemented by waiters serving small tequila bottles with straws to the audience as the show concluded.

Creative director Pip Edwards played a pivotal role in elevating the show’s profile, attracting a star-studded front row. Among the attendees was Jackie “O” Henderson, making a rare public appearance amidst her ongoing legal battles with ARN Media.
Celebrating Diversity and Connection
The evening was not only about showcasing exquisite fashion but also about celebrating diversity. Smith emphasised the importance of representing a wide age demographic, aligning with the ethos of L’Idee Woman, which caters to women at various stages of their lives. “We’re speaking to beautiful women wearing beautiful products for some of the most important occasions of their life,” she said, highlighting the emotional connection that fashion can foster.
This year marked L’Idee Woman’s second appearance at Australian Fashion Week, following a successful debut in 2022. Smith previously revealed that the brand has experienced a staggering 750% growth since its establishment in 2019, underlining its rapid ascent in the competitive world of fashion.
Why it Matters
The L’Idee Woman show at Australian Fashion Week is a testament to the brand’s compelling vision and its ability to connect with a diverse audience through the power of fashion. By featuring high-profile models who resonate with consumers and by embracing inclusivity and diversity, L’Idee Woman is not just setting trends but also creating meaningful connections that transcend mere aesthetics. As the brand continues to flourish, it exemplifies how fashion can serve as a powerful medium for expression and connection across generations.
